I have D-180 which I use for Altitude hold and GPS feed from G-496. Now I'm updating to Garmin GTN-625 and wander how much the D-180 can benefit from it, and wiring info.
Have been looking for hours at the installation manual, but no joy? Hope someone has more experience on the matter.
Thanks.

We don't often deal with the GTN 625, and the references I found online were ambiguous as to whether the GTN 625 provides an ARINC-429 interface, or not, or whether it's an option.

IF the GTN 625 (or, if an option, your unit has one installed), AND you have (or will install) a Dynon Avionics HS34 HSI Control Panel (provides an ARINC-429 interface for the FlightDEK-D180), the AP coupling to the FlightDEK-D180 is generally better than connecting via serial. For example, the AP data to the FlightDEK-D180's AP includes turn anticipation - those "sentences" aren't transmitted over serial - only transmitted on ARINC-429.

What I would do is connect pins 10, 29, 48,67 & 8 at P1001 (GTN) to the HS34  ie
GTN       HS34
10          23
29          11
48          24
67          12
8            pin 2 (serial 2 RX) (on Male) DB25
