I have an RV7A with an HDX/EMS 220, IO360-M1B, PlanePower 12V Alternator (PN 99-1012 / internal VR) charging an Odyssey PC680 battery. The HDX voltage indication has been running higher than I'd expect (14.7 and .8) with a recent flight indicating 15.0 for a short period of time. I've read online some negative comments related to the PlanePower alternator but was curious if others are experiencing higher voltages using the Odyssey battery. Pulling cowl tomorrow connect a meter to see what get.

Figured I'd reach out

This is an alternator regulator issue. It's quite possibly the "voltage sense line" for the regulator has some slight resistance (poor connection) so it not seeing full system voltage, and that makes it push the alternator harder to supply power, which raises the true system voltage. With an internally regulated alternator like yours, there is not much you can do about it besides replace it.

Strong vote here to sell it to someone you dislike, and buy a B&C.
