HDX reboots during flight?

Flying a FD CTLSi w/dual HDX screens (& a backup Garmin nav), on autopilot. Things going fine, then an hour into flight, I notice the right screen, which is normally moving map (to watch traffic, etc), switch to PFD. Then I look at my left screen, PFD totally blank. A min or so later, it begins to reboot, comes back on, everything seems fine. No further glitches. Voltage & amperage well within limits. Any idea what could cause this?

YES

Quite likely you have a USB stick with mapping on them. There are some USB sticks that do not play nice, and the small mini SanDisk seem to be the main culprits. There may be others too.

What USB keys do you have connected?

I use a couple of other brands. Not sure off the top of my head. But I have had customers suffer this. Not all do it, but some do.

Yup, I use the 32gb ultra fit. A friend had a new one that won't work in either of his two planes, one a classic, one HDX. So I tried it in my plane for him......worked fine, so I gave him one of mine, and it worked fine for him. I don't know the cause. All my San disks, large or small work fine in my system.

FYI, there is a fix for the Sandisk thumb drive issue in V16. We had to change one of the USB drivers in the SkyView.

I have reason to believe the drummer is getting comfy on his seat and selecting which sticks to use.........so maybe if we are all good Santa will deliver. But maybe due Covid Santa might be later this year.....who knows.

Do you know when this will make its way to 13.x/certified? I just bought three Ultra Fit drives but didn't discover this problem until after I opened them. Debating whether I can wait this out or have to buy all new ones. Thanks in advance!

Buy new ones, they are cheap. Got to Best Buy, pick up some PNY 16 or 32GB USB 3 drives. On sale you can often get them for less than $10.
