Any idea what’s causing this? My HDX will show the bearing to the VOR, but doesn’t show the HSI. I hope this is operator error and somebody here can show me the way. : ). I tuned in two different VOR’s on the SL30 but no luck getting an HSI indication.

Do you mean the CDI?

And have you set SYSTEM SETUP > ARINC-429 > ALLOW AUTO SWITCH?

I don't know the SL30. Does it output the “100P” label needed for auto switch to work?

Yes, the CDI doesn’t appear. My SL30 is not connected thru the ARIN-429. It connects direct to the two HDX screens via serial. What does the “ALLOW AUTO SWITCH” do?

AUTO SWITCH allows the HDX to switch between input 1 and input 2 ARINC connections for the CDI on devices that transmit a 100P signal. Page 12-5 of the install manual. As I said, I'm not familiar with the SL30, and don't know if this is required for you.

probably AUTO SWITCH does not apply here as all the communication between the Dynon and the SL30 uses rs232 serial interface, there is no ARINC interface on the SL30

Thanks. I was hoping someone familiar with it would comment.

Is this a new install? I have also have an sl30, when I initially got my panel up and working I had a similar issue. The fix was to go into the sl30 settings and set the indicator head type to none.

Thanks Cwerner. I’ll review the settings in my SL30. I hope that’s the fix!!

This screen seems to indicate that there is no correct communication ongoing between the SL30 and the Dynon. You woudl expect to see TX and RX counters different from zero and an indicated number of good sentences. Sentence errors and group errors are an indication that there is something wrong with the interface. Did you check the wiring and configurations?

The photo I posted above is a working system. When I took this picture today it was with only the one screen on and the hangar door closed and no nav signal being received.

Even with things in the hangar, the SL30 will spew out data that should cause the RX counter to continuously increment. If there's no activity there, SkyView isn't seeing it at all.

@Dynon Is this is a reply to my previous picture /post with settings? My sl30 works perfectly with the HDX, I just turned on one monitor to take a picture of my settings to possibly help the original poster. I don't think the sl30 was on when I tool the picture.

I’ll check my settings again, but pretty certain they’re the same. I’ll call Dynon Tech when I get back to the airport. My SL30 communicates com and nav frequencies to the HDX, even shows the bearing to the station, but no CDI indication. It worked perfectly with the D180 system I removed previously.
It looks like you are not displaying HSI at all. I don't know how thats possible, but the Green frequencies and Ident in the second picture seem to indicate that communication is happening fine.

I'm getting very little help on the problem I'm having with the SL30 on my customer's RV7. See this thread: https://forum.flydynon.com/threads/skyview-not-talking-back-to-sl30.14711/#post-85930

Hopefully someone with better knowledge of the background of the SL30 interface can chime in. I would expect the SV to be transmitting data, but I see no packets being sent on the system end. Recieves fine, and I get an HSI, but don't have CRS selector or options.

Ok guys, I have to fall on my own sword on this one. I had the SL30 wired properly and I knew that the head type had to be set to “None”. Unfortunately, I had selected “None” in the Nav CDI info menu, NOT the main setup menu of the SL30 that is accessed by powering it up while depressing the flip/flop button and SYS button. My apologies, but just know that if the head type is not selected to “None” in the main setup menu, everything regarding the HDX to SL30 Nav and Com functions work properly, EXCEPT for the HSI / CDI / OBS functions.
