I had the Dynon D 10 installed along with the Dynon magnetometer. Is there a time frame when (or if) the heading indicator will be certified?

14CFR 91.205 requires 3) Magnetic direction indicator.
That is for Day VFR. There is no additional requirement for night or IFR. Since most of the aircraft approved on the STC AML are CAR3 aircraft and not Part 23 aircraft, I highly doubt you even need Tso approval. I would say both the HDX and the D-10 meet the requirements of a magnetic direction indicator.

So a point of clarification: The EAA STC, which is for the installation of the EFIS-D10A by itself, only allows it to be installed as an attitude indicator. While the other functions don't need to be turned off, they can't be used for credit.

In contrast, the newer STC for SkyView HDX + and EFIS-D10A allows for replacement of all of your flight instruments - in this case the system is approved for everything.

Are you now saying that the backup D10A for the HDX can now be connected to the magnetometer for accurate heading information under the current Dynon STC?

Negative. What I meant was that the system as a whole provides these functions. Sorry for the confusion there. SkyView has a magnetometer. The EFIS-D10A only gets a connection to power and its own internal battery (and pitot/static). The backup magnetic heading source is the physical compass in the aircraft, which remains as a backup heading source.

Any progress on a D10A replacement??? :) That screen needs updating especially sitting next to the gorgeous HDX! Was hoping for a circa Sun 'N Fun announcement... :)
