Heated pitot modification

Hi,
I am installing the Dynon heated pitot in the nose of a Cozy. I would like to remove some of the aft portion of the unit to make more room for ballast.
Is that a possibility? For example, milling off the back as shown by the red line.

Yep, that will work if you can support it at the back end - not ideal though & maybe untidy. surely there is a better solution

Just to say this officially, but physically modifying products in ways that aren't documented in our installation manuals is not supported and is considered damaging to the product. Additionally, we aren't able to cover damaged products under warranty.
