WE seem to be getting double what the RPM should be on our Skyview. Can someone give a clue as why we are seeing this. WE checked it with a external rev counter.

Check your setting of the PULS/REV R and L values as described in the Engine Information Section. Value depends on # of cyl's and type of ignition.

Usually the PPR is 1/4, 1/2 or total number of cylinders, ie in your case (RV6A - Lycoming ?) it's a PPR of 2 or 1.

I had this with my rotax 914. The rev counter was correct up to 2600rpm but then the gauge read double when checked against the rotax program on a laptop. The pulse setting was set to 1. The solution for me was to insert a 27k ohm resistor in the pulse wire from the TCU to the ems.

The ignition type also matters. If connected to a standard magneto, you will need a resistor inline, per the installation manual. The PPS should then be set to 2 for an O320 engine.

If using electronic ignition, no resistor is required but the input to the EMS module is different.
