When I export my data logs for upload I get several different version of the History Log Data, each for previously installed Software versions.
Examples:
2016-04-17-N2626C-SN2442-13.0.3.3233-USER_LOG_DATA
2016-04-17-N2626C-SN2442-12.2.0.2950-HISTORY_LOG_DATA-PART_02
2016-04-17-N2626C-SN2442-12.0.0.2780-HISTORY_LOG_DATA

How do I clear these old versions from being created with each new export?

Thank You.

Unfortunately, you cannot.

Dynon Avionics Technical Support has pointed out the inconvenience to customers of this "feature" and suggested there be a "Delete ALL History" button, but to date, this suggestion has not been acted upon.

Im confused. I read this reply below from another thread which describes my issue and how to correct it. However I tried that procedure and get the same results.

Your reply to my post indicates (to me) that thre is not currently a way to remove the old software version data log files from being created.

Joe, all:

When the datalog IN your SkyView display contains data which are recorded with one firmware version (example - v11.1), and some data recorded with another firmware version (example - v12.0), when the datalog is saved to the USB flash drive, a file is saved for the data of each version. As the data from the earlier version eventually "ages out" of the SkyView display's internal memory, only one file will be saved... until the next firmware update  ;)

If the "split files" are inconvenient, if you delete the datalog from the internal memory (SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SETUP > DATA LOG SETUP > DATA LOG > CLEAR ALL DATA > CLEAR (button), then all the data in the internal memory will be deleted. The datalog recorded from that point forward will be only in the format of the current firmware version.

This has been a "feature" of the SkyView User Datalog for some time, but not documented; to be corrected in Revision U of the SkyView System Installation Guide and Pilot's User Guide.

The other datalog files that are saved are smaller (Black Box - only one hour if memory serves) or more specialized.

Joe, how long does it take you to export your datalogs? How much difference do you think it would make to save just the User Datalog(s) without the Black Box datalog?

I searched for "user data log" and didn't find mention of this problem (below).  Perhaps this is a feature, not a bug or is by design; in that case, please disregard everything except my plea for a streamlined user data log download.

SV v12.0.  For at least my last three User Data downloads I've noticed the History Log file has been in two parts (i.e 2015-02-16-N227JD-SN3115-12.0.B6.2722-HISTORY_LOG_DATA.csv and 2015-02-16-N227JD-SN3115-12.0.0.2780-HISTORY_LOG_DATA-PART_02.csv).

None of the other files are split, which is fortunate for me as all I really want is the User Log Data.  In fact, I would be happier if the other logs were not "bundled" with a User Data Log download (due to the much longer time required to download the Black Box Log).  How about making that the default?

Im confused. I read this reply below from another thread which describes my issue and how to correct it. However I tried that procedure and get the same results.
I think what he was saying was that all the logs are split when a new version of the firmware is loaded. Clearing the data logs clears all the logs - except the history log.

I can see the reasoning for splitting the files at a firmware version change. The log file fields could be disrupted mid file if more data fields were added with the version change. If you look at the history log data it would kind of defeat the purpose of the log if it was deleted. It keeps a record of what files were loaded. I would want to know that kind of history if I was trouble shooting. It's too bad they are split across versions like all the rest of the log files but then it's contents may also change at some version change.

As it is, the only file I'm interested in for the most part is the USR LOG DATA. I don't particularly like the split files so I download and clear the logs as a normal procedure of doing a firmware update. I'm a little OCD about keeping files so the fact that I have duplicate history files doesn't bother me. much. I can live with it. sometimes.

What I do like is that the sensor (*.sfg) and user (*.dfg) and checklist (*.txt) files are saved to the USB drive before the firmware is updated. I use to do that manually. Part of the OCD thing. ::)

To be 100% clear, there is a CLEAR ALL LOG FILES option in the setup menus under DATA LOG CONFIG. If you run this, it will clear all logs (previous SW versions and current).

To update what my colleague said, and agreeing with mmarien, this button does clear all LOG files, but does not clear the HISTORY file - that is unaffected by the CLEAR ALL LOG FILES button.

The earlier reply that was quoted was incorrect; at the time we (Technical Support) thought that the CLEAR ALL LOG FILES did clear the HISTORY file but that was later discovered not to be the case.

To be 100% clear, there is a CLEAR ALL LOG FILES option in the setup menus under DATA LOG CONFIG. If you run this, it will clear all logs (previous SW versions and current).

Re: History Log Data Files

I believe, if faulty memory is reasonably correct, that when doing a Data download to thumbdrive (which I do after every flight),  SV generated a "few" files (data, BB, etc) early on.  Then the number of files exploded as the data was sub-divided into a bunch of sub-files, with still a usable master data file (which is the one I want.)

This situation persisted over a few generations. and then was "fixed."  Starting around 14, and currently, when I download my Data files from the thumbdrive onto my computer, I get either 17 or 18 files.  Since I fly a lot and download everything, (and keep everything),  I have a very large number of files, of which, I basically only want only one per flight.

What's the situation here, Dynon?  Why the (apparent) reversion back to so many files?  What is their use?  Can I delete them?  Can I (or you) prevent them from being created and downloaded when I do a data dump?

With the latest software (15.1 currently), we only expect a new log file to be triggered by a new software version or a change to the EMS configuration. It's possible there's a bug. Can you send a few of the files (consecutive ones would be ideal) to our support team so we can take a look at them?
