I'm wanting to load another complete comfiguration into my SV system, by way of my Dynon USB memory stick. I don't want to overwrite my current configuration, in case I want to go back to it. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me the steps I need to take to save my current configuration and what I must then do to go back to it if I don't like the 2nd configuration. This 2nd configuration was sent to me as a completed SV setup. Thanks

Thanks Jeffa, I have read that page several times. I can't see how and where to save and or delete the first configuation and the second configuation, if not wanted. Just a little more help will be appreciated.
thanks

You don't delete the old one. Loading a new one over wires what you have.

Just go into the software menu, and do a "settings export." This will save all your settings to the USB stick.

Then do a "load files" on the settings you've been given.

If you don't like them, just load the ones you've saved.

Be aware that the settings your friend gave you includes EVERYTHING. It's how the serial ports are configured, the airspeeds for your plane, the ICAO code for the transponder, the redlines for your engine. You still need to check out the menus and make sure things are the way you want them.

Thank you Dynon Support, I don't have my fuel tanks, auto pilot or anything else loaded. Would it still be ok to load this second configuration? The second configuration doesn't have auto pilot in it. Also what would happen if the USB stick gets full? Can you then just delete any files you don't want any more? In the Installation Guide page 3-14 it states. "the files must be in the root directory of the drive"
What does that mean?
Thanks

The file cannot be located inside a folder on the USB.  The files have to be "visible" as soon as you open the USB drive on your laptop or desktop.  Same is true for database updates and software updates.  I delete database and software updates after they have been loaded to save space on the USB.

So note that the ONLY thing that comes even close to filling the drive is the high resolution terrain files. But after you've loaded it to SkyView, freeing up that space for virtually infinite settings files.

Note that the settings export contains two files. One is the .dfg, which is settings, and the other is the .sfg files, which is the engine sensor definitions file. The .sfg is a database of EMS sensors and doesn't need to be routinely imported, but it's generally best to be using the most up-to-date version of the file available on our web site.
