With the upcoming ICAO codes being mandatory for filing a flight plan, I was wondering what the correct codes we should use. I know if we have the correct DYNON transponder connected to an approved position source the main code is E but with the SV-ADSB-472 should it be EB1 or EB2? Me thinks it should be EB2 but not sure.

FYI over here B1 = ADSB OUT on 1090MHz & B2 = ADSB OUT & IN on 1090MHz - I figure the numbers only will/may change eg 978MHz for you guys below 18oooft.
I use EB1 here as I only have OUT as a 'approved' system however also have the Dynon -472 for IN ;)

But the SV-ADSB-472 has both 978 and 1090 "IN" and there is no such thing as an "approved" ADS-B IN. So should it be B1 or B2?

I installed both the Dynon transponder (connected to an Avidyne GPS) and the 472, last year. Almost all of my flights are filed as instrument flight plans equipped as SBG EB1.

This may also help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equipment_codes.
Where did you get the "guidance" as to which one (EB1 or EB2) is correct? When DYNON only had the 470 (a while back) they indicated EB1 was the correct code. But now that the 472 is available does that guidance change?

The Pilot User's Guide, page 185, provides the guidance.
"If your aircraft is equipped with a Dynon Mode-S transponder, a certified GPS navigator or SVGPS-2020, the appropriate ICAO Surveillance Equipment Code is "EB1". The E adds ADS-B credit, and the B1 indicates that you are 1090 OUT."

As to the ICAO surveillance field... I'm not sure that it really matters? ADS-B IN isn't part of the 2020 mandate. Also, ATC won't call you up because you filed EB1 when you're you've got a 470 or a 472. Anecdotally, look at the website for Public ADS-B Performance Reports: https://adsbperformance.faa.gov/PAPRRequest.aspx. They've removed all selections for reporting ADS-B IN equipage.

Yes, but that is exactly the same Pilot User's Guide verbiage provided since the -470 was the only ADS-B IN available hence the question. I am not asking about if it really matters, if it is/isn't part of the mandate, Public Performance Reports or if ATC even cares, just clarification from DYNON which is the most correct to use. ;)

For us, ATC doesn't care about our ADSB IN ability :).

This is something that may help from the regulator " ‘EB1’ will be the appropriate entry for the majority of ADS-B equipped General Aviation aircraft"

jakej; the table you attached for Australia (which "should" be the same for all ICAO filing) shows if you are equipped with the -472 (1090 IN) then the correct code is EB2. Unless DYNON provides different guidance, that is what I will use. THANKS!
