INCORRECT CARB TEMP

Hi,

I have been testing my D120 EMS on my RV6 after hooking up all inputs. The Carb temp is reading 46deg C with the probe dangling in free air at about 16 deg C.
(Sorry America, the rest of the world used Deg C!)

I have a probe with two black & white wires, so iaw the Manual one is to ground the other to Pin 4 (GP1).

Can anybody tell me what the resistance of the probe & B & w wires should be at ISA temps, so that I can check that is correct.?

The probe is an unmarked Brass unit.

Any other suggestions for trouble shooting this??

Thanks

I'd change the probe type (in menu settings) so it reads what's expected, I don't remember off hand, without ready access to the manual, what it's supposed to be.

A few resistance readings for that probe(measure with power off):

0C = ~32.6k
10C = ~19.9k
20C = ~12.5k
30C = ~8k
40C =~5.3k
46C = ~4.2k

Now, that's right up near the end of the scale, so you might be seeing a railed out value if you're grounded out. I'm not sure what the max displayed number is on D120 off the top of my head, but it's conceivable that it's right about there.

Thanks for the replies.

I had the wrong probe type in the EMS setup menu, so now all seems to work as it should.

Thanks
