Incorrect RPM Indications FlightDEK D-180 with Rotax 912

We have a FlightDEK D-180 paired with a Rotax 912 consistently reading 20-22% low on the tachometer for the full range of RPMs from idle to WOT. RPM indications are steady with no spikes or drops.

This was verified by comparison to an optical tachometer reading (converted to engine RPM in accordance with the 2.43:1 gear ratio) as well as an external tachometer reading from the spark plug. Readings from both optical and external matched.

The Dynon is set to Rotax and a PPR of 1.0 IAW the installation manual. We tried installation both with and without the 30k ohm resistor in line between the 5th trigger coil and the dynon. There was no difference in indications with either configuration. We have also tried both leads off of the trigger coil, with no difference in indication (though that is expected).

At this point we are out of ideas on how to remedy the situation barring putting an oscilloscope to the trigger coil to confirm the correct output signal. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Fire up a timer on the D180 and compare its clock with an external reference. Is it counting time correctly? That's the only think I can think of. If you're pulling the tach off the trigger coil, it's 1 pulse/rev, as you say. Beyond that, get in touch with our tech support team for further help.
