Can I use one of the 3 GP inputs on a D180 for a voltage 1-5 input? Most of the installation manual is using those for thermocouples or resistive inputs. Also read something about having to have a HS34 module to use those inputs ports. Not sure what that's all about. I am planning to use a FlightData L2e adapter to indicate engine Timing degs on my D180 if that GP will accept a 1-5 vdc signal. The module is marketed as a Electronic Ignition to EFIS adapter. Thanks for your help.

Yes.
Those are only menu configuration options you'd use if you have an HS34 installed. It only affects the way the system uses the inputs on those pins. It doesn't affect the pins themselves.

I'm still having problems getting the 1-5 v input signal to display correctly on my D180. I'm confident that the Aviation Data L2e signal conditioner is correct since it reads timing deg ( DC volts) perfectly on a DC volt meter. I have used both sensor 1 and 2 on the GP3 option list without any recognizable data. (data ranges from -35 to 80 ) It appears to me the only options under the GP are temperature related options except for one pressure transducer option. Any comments appreciated.

All inputs are voltage. The menu options just tell it how to use and display that voltage. I haven't seen a D180 in a long time, and the installation guide doesn't provide a lot of info, but you want to use a non-alarming input, like a flap position sensor. That gives you a result based on voltage levels. It may not actually say voltage, but you should be able to configure it that way. I honestly can't remember if you can edit config files for the D180, like you can with Skyview, and I've temporarily lost access to my archives due to a computer crash. But maybe someone here with a better memory can answer that.
