This past week my Skyview HDX 1100 died and I had to return it to Dynon. They were great to work with and sent me a replacement HDX immediately.

Unfortunately, the unit was too far gone and they were not able to retrieve the back up of my settings from the returned HDX. They suggested I refer to the Archived Folders from my Thumb Drive. That was at the end of the day yesterday (Friday), and I think they are out for the rest of the weekend...

Fortunately, I was able to locate an Archive Folder on the thumb drive from a few weeks ago. However, I am not familiar with how to bring those files in to the replacement HDX.

There are many items I need to recover and hoping this will be an easy process. For example, the replacement HDX is configured for a 4 cylinder engine, and I am using a 6 cylinder Lycoming. Plus many many other settings that I did not establish when I purchased the HDX new. The setup was originally performed by Aerotronics when I purchased the HDX and other components from them.

Where can I find instructions to recover my old settings through the archived folder(s) on my thumb drive?

Thank you!

There is a write up on another thread where someone replaced their legacy screen with an HDX. I used that when I did the same.

In any case, there are option in the HDX to import from backup files. I don't recall exactly where but it is there and will restore your settings.

I actually heard from Dynon over the weekend. Here's what they said in case anyone else is looking for the same information.

"Rob,
Just put the thumb drive in a PC, open the archive folder, copy and past the files in it into the root directory of the thumb drive.
Power up the system and load the .dfg file using the LOAD FILES option in system software."

Worked like a charm. Only thing I can see that did not carry over is the Hobbs and Tac time.

You should be able to manually edit the file to make those correct. Download the files from your new unit, then open them in an editor and look for the tach and hobbs numbers. Edit them to match the previous values, then re-upload the file.

I had to do that very early on when my SV1000 had to go back for replacement of a board (Dynon had a batch that had problems during manufacturing back then).

Yeah, those aren't imported by design so that you don't mess up your engine times if you're playing with configs. BUT, as noted, they're in the files in plaintext, and then you can dial them in via the interface.
