Intermittent boot behavior

I have a single 10" Skyview system with transponder, ADS-B, ADAHARS, GPS and EMS.  About once every eight to ten boots, the display will reboot at some point in the console process and the backlight will come full on from off as opposed to the normal soft start.  When this happens, the GPS is offline.  I switch the display off then back on and it boots normally backlight soft start and all.

I've noticed this behavior on the current and previous software versions.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  I've not found it significant enough a problem to warrant pulling the display out and attempting to have it fixed.  However, if this is leading to something more problematic it would be good to know.

Thanks,
Bill

Similar but different, every 3-4 times I power up the Skyview nothing happens, it stays black. Cycle power, or do a 1-2-5 reboot and it comes on.

lolachampcar - Where EXACTLY does it reboot? And when you say the GPS is offline, what exactly are you seeing? After it comes up in this state, are you saying that you need to manually reboot to get GPS reception up?

If there's any chance you could take a few pics when you're in this state (I realize you won't be able to catch the instant it instantiates) when it happens and email them to support@, that might help us see what you're seeing.

Harry - This is an issue we know about, and it's a bit installation-dependent in complex electrical ways, and also doesn't indicate anything wrong with the display. Though you may need to cycle power or use 1/2/5, once you're powered up, it'll stay up.

I believe it is about mid-way through the console scroll when it reboots.  I will try to pay more attention and provide more accurate data.

WRT the GPS, I get a big red X across the map screen indicating there is no GPS signal.  I turn the master off (at which point the display turns off instantly as opposed to it normally going to backup battery operation and asking for a button press to turn the display off) then back on again and the display boots normally.  I do not recall ever having to power down twice.

I did not say this earlier but I LOVE Skyview and would not have anything else in the plane.

I have been experiencing a similar boot issue on my number 2 display. I boot up my 10 inch display prior to start to monitor the engine, when started I boot the 7 inch display but it comes up with multi colored vertical lines. Have to hold the number 1 button for 5 seconds till it shuts down. When rebooted, it comes up normal. Happens about a quarter of the time.

rtairey: when it does this, does it just stay on the lines indefinitely? Or will the display eventually reboot itself? Also, note that pressing buttons 1/2/5 simultaneously will instantly command a reboot of the system, which is quicker than the button 1 shut down turn on method. Also, what SkyView version are you running?

Vertical coloured stripes. -- I haven't left on indefinitely, so I am not sure how long, next time I will let them stay on with out shutting down and reboot. I a phage always shut down within 10 seconds. I am running 7.0.0.
