I hate to give the impression that I am not excited and impressed by the new AP functionality, but...
With EFIS, EMS, and (now) AP nicely integrated, the issue of GPS functionality remains. With the addition of a moving map/GPS mode, the Dynon devices could make for an insanely clean panel. One FlightDEK, a Comm radio, and a transponder would do most of the job. A couple of steam gauges for backup...or, even better, a D10A with independent ADAHRS for backup that would display the map or EMS info via DSAB during normal flight.
It seems that this is the direction that most EFIS's are heading, with each taking different paths to get to common functionality. BMA, GRT, AFS, and now TruTrak all have EFIS's that can or soon might "do it all." Is Dynon pursuing this course, too?
Perhaps my main reason for asking is that I have confidence that Dynon, if they choose to do so, will produce the best value all-in-one unit AND have the ability to deliver the product and ship it.
So, GPS and map at Sun'n'Fun 2010? :
