Up shooting approaches today, and we just want to confirm what we think we read in the manual...

I have a Garmin 430W and the SV1000 (with all the bells and whistles and databases and all that).

So...on an ILS approach, once the approach is loaded in the Garmin, and I'm on vectors to final (or after the IAF), I have to manually set the PFD/HSI to use the ILS (the VLOC side of the 430) by going into the menu and setting PFD-HSI-Nav Source to NAV1...right?

I.e., it won't switch to it automatically based on anything coming out of the ARINC 429 box, even if the Garmin unit properly changes modes from GPS to VLOC, right?

My 430 is non-WAAS, but that is how my setup works with an ILS. Just out of habit and what I'm comfortable with, when using AP on an approach and close in to the FAF, I always use HDG mode in the roll axis. Because of this, I already have the localizer up and displayed on the HSI.

You do need to manually switch between GPS and VLOC, so you are reading the manual correctly.

The next update to SkyView's software will automate the switch for you.
