I have been planning to use a D180/D100 combo in the Glasair I am building. With the release of the full details on the Skyview, I can consider this but have a couple of questions.

Can the Synthetic Vision be turned off? I find this very distracting to a true IFR platform. I think I saw that it could but of course no pictures show the display without it. If it can be disabled, is the display the same blue over brown as before?

Have design details on the HSI been finalized? I know that it does not currently work but I am sure it will shortly. This feature is very important to me. When the HSI works, will it be located at the same position the compass uses on the main screen? Will it have two additional color coded needles like the current generation so that bearing data from multiple sources is displayed in RMI fashion while tracking a nav source with the CDI portion of the HSI?

With the loss of the AP 74 (and AP 76), will there be a very quick way to enter the autopilot mode and change modes while using the autopilot? I am concerned that without a direct autopilot interface much fumbling though menus may be required even though the multiple action buttons are doing the fumbling.

Yes, synthetic vision will be turned off.

The HSI design will be conceptually very similar to our current products, will have bearing pointers and CDI needles that can be concurrently displayed, like the current line, and it will overlay the current SkyView DG/compass location. Design details haven't been completely finalized, though.

With so many buttons, the menus are extremely shallow. From the main menu, you'd tap the AP button, and then all of your controls will be front and center, with no need to dig around any further. Like today, you'll also be able to use a press and hold of the disconnect switch in order to engage the AP as well. Finally, there are some discreet inputs that can be utilized on the screens, and our long-term idea is to allow those to be used for direct command of various system functions - you'd hook up your own external switches for that. No promise or timeline on that feature, by the way.
