Problem: I have a D10 "t"d with a standard diaphram type airspeed indicator. Is that ok? The AI holds pressure, but the system does not hold pressure, because the D10 does not hold pressure. Is that normal? There are no leaks.

There is no problem to T the D10 with all the other pitot-static instruments.  Just make sure that you are using the correct ports on the D10 - I know a builder who managed to mix up pitot and static connections, which gave some interesting results.

There should be no internal leaks in the D10.  Please explain how you determined that the D10 does not hold pressure.

Here is what I did. I attached a soft rubber hose to the AI, about 2 feet long. I rolled up the hose causing a pressure in the hose. I rolled until the AI read about 80, and then held it. The AI held the pressure for a long time. I then did the same thing to the D10. It would not hold any pressure at all. By connecting and reconnecting, I determined that my system is intact and without leaks, except at the D10. The installation instructions state that the port for the pitot is the center one.

I am beginning to get nervous that my D10 is defective, and even though I have not used it, it is out of warranty.

It sure sounds like your D10 has an internal leak, assuming there is no leak between your rubber hose and the D10.  Is there any chance you have a leak at the fitting that is screwed into the D10?

If you really have an internal leak in the D10 it will need to go back to Dynon.  Contact Dynon to discuss a return for maintenance.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep worrying about whether it is in or out of warranty.  I can't speak for Dynon, but they have a reputation for providing support that goes well beyond the minimum required by the warranty.  They prefer happy customers, as happy customers are good salesmen.

We'll be happy to look at it if you determine there is an internal leak. It's rare, but it has happened a few times. They are fully checked before they leave here.

We'll do all we can to fix it, but we do have a limited supply of D10 replacement parts. Depending on the failure, we sometimes do need to have people pay for a D10 to D10A upgrade ($350) but this of course gets you a D10A with all the neat features as well as a fresh 3 year warranty.

Problem resolved. Thank you and Kevin. The connector on the D10 that I purchased at Home Depot is white, hard plastic, push on type. The elbow if it has a fine crack. After 3 hours of dimanteling the panel of my experimental SeaRey, I was able to remove the instrument and change the fitting. Problem solved.
