I'm not IFR rated but am considering making my RV-9A IFR legal...and don't even know exactly what that requires.  I saw this in the Dec 2011 AOPA Pilot magazine:

“Our intent is to do everything the G1000 does. We’re not there yet. Our new product is the Mode S transponder. We intend to have radios. We are going to be able to do legal IFR approaches with it,” [Robert Hamilton, director of sales and marketing for Seattle-based Dynon Avionics] said.
p. 55.

What is "it" above that will allow legal IFR approaches? Can Dynon expand on what their plans are for legal IFR in general?  Curious builders want to know!

IFR flight and approaches with SkyView are legal with a radio like the SL30 or a GNS430 connected to it, and SkyView already integrates very well with the SL-30, GNS, and GTN devices. We have plans to increase the level of integration as well as add approach plates to make SkyView even more a highly integrated, feature rich IFR platform.

To clarify what the article mentioned, we do not currently have any plans to introduce a Nav radio or a GPS certified for IFR navigation, such as the GNS430. SkyView is an integrated system like the G1000, but the writer in the AOPA article overstated the case when claiming legal IFR approaches without making those clarifications. Quotes aren't always perfect!  -Robert, Dynon Marketing
