I have looked at the log files from the Skyview a couple of times on very short flights. They looked interesting but I wasn't able to gather much from them on a short flight around the patch. What i want to do is get my most miles per gallon using true airspeed and fuel flow. The other day I flew a 300NM cross country from NY's, 1N2 to NC's, GED. I'm trying to make sense of the log files I exported from the skyview. First, I exported the black box file and the user file. I called them each 123. I got 4 Black Box files, parts 1, 2, 3, & 4. And I got 9 user files. Up to part 9. Every other file is a tiny file 3kb with almost nothing in it. The others are like 6000kb to 18000kb with tons of data. I thought I was going to see 2 files but I got 9. I can see they go from one to the next using the time. How come it was broken up like this?

SkyView already has a MPG meter right on screen if you want it. It's MPG over the ground, fuel flow over GPS speed.

You got multiple files because you re-configured your sensor configuration at some point. This changes the header in the file and we have to break it up.

Do a reset of all data in that menu and future exports will be only 2 files. The black box file is only 15 minutes so it's rarely the one you want.

Dynon,
With all the info available in the user data log file following a one hr or longer flight, would it be possible to flag or somehow list separately the highest and lowest values of parameters like oil temp, oil pressure, cht's, etc? This would present valuable information quickly without the need of searching through the whole file.

That would require us to process the log file as we export it, which is a lot more work. It also means programs that read the data now need to know to ignore certain elements that are not raw data, but processed data.

You can find the min/max of any column in Excel or Openoffice so easily that we expect most people to be using programs like that to analyze the data. If it's something you do over and over, you could write a macro or template to do it.

Can you elaborate on the 'reset of all data'... specifically what menu are you referring to, and what user sensor settings are impacted by the reset?
