When I am flying an RNAV 17 approach into AZO (Kalamazoo, MI), I get the message “LPV not available Use LNAV MDA” on my Avidyne IFD540. But not only do I get this message, The actual Glideslope indicator on my HDX display will come and go.

Looking for advice, is this a possible HDX or more of a Avidyne GPS problem?

I have gotten the same message before but never lost glide slope indications. I just used the higher minimums. This was about 6 months ago.

i suspect this it due to RAIM level is not good enough to support the glide slope. the approach I was on was RNAV 13 into KTYR in Texas. It has a LPV DH, LNAV / VNAV DH, and LNAV MDA. I suspect in my case the RAIM was good enough for the LNAV / VNAV but not the LPV. In your case RAIM could not support any DH (glide slope) operation. So it forced you to use the MDA.

found this in the Avidyne pilots mamaul.
