Lost NAV function

Hello all. Today was unable to engage NAV mode on my AP74 driving a D100/D180 with coupling to a Garmin 695 v 6.1. The NAV and TRK lights on the AP74 panel would not illuminate when selected, and the RMI page on my D100 only gave mag heading info. Hope I've forgotten to do something basic or there is an easy fix to this! Best rgds, Mike.

In the HSI menu, did you try pressing the NAVSRC button to get the 695's nav information up?

No I did not. In flight I did power down then restarted the GPS unit but was still unable to regain full function. I also did not get a wind readout on my D100...

What would cause this sudden loss of data from the GPS then? System has been stable until now. Is it hardware or software? I have just had some work done behind the panel on a transponder, but no change in the plumbing.  :-/

Maybe that's a clue - just saying ....... :)

Whenever I work behind a pre wired panel there is always the risk, and fear, that something gets broken or disturbed - a good policy is the check what was working before and then after work is done, saves possible finger pointing later ;)

Solid advice and I double checked all behind the panel today. Initialized the GPS and verified the HSI navsrc on the ground. NAV and TRK buttons illuminated normally on the AP74. Buttoned up the panel, took to the air and same thing- no nav source, no GPS to D100 feed. Switched off all electronics and restarted them all in flight, but still no joy. Back on the ground, opened the panel again to check for loose wiring but found none. Buttoned it all back together and voila an active GPS nav source again. Ran out of light so no flight test. Am pretty sure this is not a software issue, sooo, what else might cause this loss of signal? Inquiring minds getting frustrated here...

Data Cable re-routed

Obviously as puzzling to others as to myself. Few options left so re-routed data/power cable away from main avionics loom behind panel and flight tested today - ops now restored to normal. May have been the reason, may not. Consider case closed... hopefully.

Most likely not, sorry :) still could be an intermittent connection - I had a friend who had similar issues who was convinced the problem was NOT with wiring however after resoldering a connection everything worked good again. Hopefully your issue is fixed. ;)

Right you are Jake. Found the data out lead from my GPS loose in its serial port connection to the D100. Might have to try my hand at a little micro-soldering...
