on my SV1000 If I go to nearest the answer is no airports within 200nM . I am based in South Africa . Question - Does the map system work in south africa and if so what is required to get this working . ??

You'll need a South Africa aviation database. The downloads from Dynon are FAA data so are USA airports and airspaces only.
I believe PocketFMS has a world wide database. Jeppenson also may have South Africa aviation databases.
