I am trying to add a second radio in a RV-9A. I have a GTN-650 as my primary. Due to upgrades, I now have an empty 2.25" hole in my panel, although I am still considering the Dynon radio, but its installation would be a challenge. A round 2.25" Dynon radio remote would really have been nice.

I understand the MGL V6 can be tuned from the SkyView, but I am also wondering if it would also display properly on the SkyView screen. Any more information or comparisons between the two radio's would be appreciated. I will be upgrading to the Dynon intercom as well, as I have no audio panel at this time.

I have an MGL V6 in my glider, where it works well as a transceiver (no Dynon panels in the glider). For my airplane, I really like the Dynon radio, because of it's ATIS, TWR, etc buttons. Try again to fit it in!

The MGL has intercom features I don't use, but they might be all you need, if you go with that radio.

I have a Skyview and MGL V6 in my RV-7.  I can tune the V6 just fine from the Skyview.  I do not recall what shows up on the Skyview screen, tho.  I have had a number of oddball issues with the V6, tho, so for a 2.25" radio, I would take a look at the Trig Ty91.    http://www.trig-avionics.com/ty91.html

I have the V6 radio, it works very very well once you have it set up and it has all the features I could want. Of course there is on the most basic interaction with the D100 series products.

Although it did take some fiddling with to get all the settings right, so that they were compatible with the setup I have [adjusting mic / speaker gains, noise cancelling, etc];  I have no experience with other modern radios so I couldn't safely say whether that's just part of installing a radio, or a bit of an odd-ball issue.
