The textual nav info that appears to the right of the HSI does not always show the station identifier. When nav source is internal or SL30 driven the Station ID and distance show up. When navigating from GPS 1 ( Garmin 430 ) and Nav 1 (Garmin 430) only the distance to waypoint shows up. Is this intentional of is there a set up problem

For the 430, that data is supplied over ARINC-429. Are you equipped with the Dynon ARINC adapter?

For the SL-30, that data is sent over serial.

More precisely, things like VOR ID and frequency are ARINC on the 430.

The SL30 decodes and sends the identifier of a VOR to other devices as it listens and hears the morse beeps and borps. Unfortunately, the 430 does not do that, so that behavior is expected.

On the other hand, the GPS waypoint is nominally sent over from the 430 to us, and it's displayed. I can't think of an obvious setting that would inhibit that, though.

Actually, we're seeing the same thing here, so we'll have to check into whether there's a bug there or not.

The primary software guy on this end of the product has been out for a few days, so we're waiting on an answer here internally here. Shouldn't be more than another day or two before we have some info for you. Thanks for your patience.

OK, so without getting into the nitty gritty - it's not a bug, but a limitation because of they way we parse, or collect data, from the ARINC data stream. We do have plans to do more with the available ARINC data from those devices, such as pulling out / cross filling flight plan information. The waypoint ID is actually in that data, and so when we do flight plan cross filling (on the todo list, but not strongly scheduled) the waypoint field will get populated.
