I second this idea, but in a slightly different direction.
For those of us with limited panel space (RV-8A) who choose to use a single 10" Skyview display there is a need for backup instruments for IFR capability should the primary display fail -- usually airspeed, attitude, and altitude.
One alternative is three steam gauges, but a better alternative is something like a D-6. Of course adding a D-6 is doable, but then you have two different technologies, extra wiring, two separate systems to update/troubleshoot, etc.
Particularly in a 2 AHRS installation, a "dumbed down" D-6 form factor Skyview screen that just plugs into the Skyview network would seem to make a lot of sense. Otherwise, the 2 AHRS installation does nothing to protect against primary screen failure.
