Is there a support document which lists the different nav-com radios that will connect to Skyview for ILS approaches. I was thinking about purchasing a used KX-155. Would I need to install the ARINC 429 for this connection?
Neal,
I have a KX-155 installed in my full Dynon panel in a Lancair 360. There is no ARINC communication provided in this radio. Mine feeds a King LOC/Converter and then a Garmin mechanical indicator for backup VOR/ILS. It has no connection to Dynon equipment. Pretty sure there is no way to interface it to Garmin.

Neal,
The KX-155 will not work on the Dynon systems. I would suggest looking for a good used SL-30. There should be plenty of them coming out of Europe.
Since I'm mainly interested in a low cost option to shoot ILS approaches, I have discovered the VAL Nav 2000 as a possible option. It operates on the SL30 protocol and costs $1295 new. I saw some previous comments about VOR range problems, but most agree that it is a good loc/ils receiver and incorporates with the Skyview. Any thoughts?
No personal experience, Neal, but folks on the Vans forum (VansAirforce.com) have generally negative views of the VAL Nav 2000 with both operation and support.
A quick Google search will provide some good reading on the topic.
