Network cable

I am doing a simple ems and ahars installation. I have built my own cable and the "B" side of the skyview network does not seem to function. Is the drawing ing the manual for the display side of the db9 correct?

I have. Done the following-
Two modem cables from display to modules (one cable per module). Both identified on the network (both found).
Put both ahars and ems on "a" side of my cable and they both work (one at a time, of course).
Verified "b" power and ground voltages along with data 1 and 2 voltages are the same on my module side a and b db9s.

Is anything special required the use the b side of the display db9 network connector or should I just by another db9 and use the a side of the second display connector (so my cable looks like the two modem cable implementation)?

Thanks
Bill

By chance is anyone out there using both "A" and "B" network channels off of one Skyview panel DB9?

There is only one supported configuration for network cables, and that is all 9 pins making it from the screen out to each and every module. The networks are not independent. You can't have the EMS on A and the AHRS on B and expect them both to work. You also can't just wire up the B network and have anything ever work. The A network is the primary and the B is the hot standby network.

That being said, the B network is not quite active on SkyView yet. It's in testing right now and should be in the next release. However, don't expect that you can just run 4 wires out to a module when this is in the software. The software does a continuous test and will scream and yell at you every time you turn it on and as you are flying if any wires are missing.

How are you testing this anyway?

It's correct. They're not utilized at the moment, but that will change in our next software release. However, it is a requirement that all of the data wires be connected as depicted in the manual.

My mistake. I checked the documentation before building my cable and there was no description of the networks. I assumed (the old ass out of ....) that there were two networks and I was free to use either or both.

My current cable has four wires from the A side of the Skyview DB9 going to the AHARS and four wires from the B side of the Skyview DB9 going to the EMS. I will purchase another DB9 and pull the B side pins from the Skyview connector and put them in the A side of a second connector for the second Skyview DB9.

Had I known the limitation, I would have made the cable a chain on A instead of two seperate channels.

If this is not in the manual, you may want to consider adding it.
