New Knob panel losing steps

I love the remote knob panel and use it a lot. Unfortunately the altitude knob has started losing steps. When you turn the knob the displayed altitude bug goes in the opposite direction, or does not change, or goes less increments than have been made. A bit frustrating. The Baro and Hdg knobs work fine. Anyone else seen this?

Nige, this is a known issue that was addressed in software. What version of software are you running? If you are running 13.0.3 and still having this issue please contact our tech support department directly at 425-402-0433.

Hi David,

I think I have the latest version but let me check and I'll report back.

I have also noticed this on my Altitude setting. It started on version 13.0.3.
I remember this before on version 10 or 11 but was fixed with firmware.
Looks like it came back. I only see it in the altitude setting with the remote panel.

Kurt - are you talking about the altitude function on the SkyView joystick knobs? or on the SV-KNOB-PANEL module?

Hi Dynon,

Mine actually worked fine before 13.0.3 and only started playing up sometime after I upgraded. I checked today that I have 13.0.3.3233 installed. The Baro and Hdg bugs work fine still.

Dynon,

This was with the SV-KNOB-PANEL. As I stated above I noticed on my last flight I was pre-setting my desired altitude to 3500 ft prior to takeoff. When I was setting the altitude bug it would jump to far then turning it back it jumped to far back. I had to sneak up on the 3500 ft. it is very similar to the pre- version 12 issue.

What version did you upgrade from? Does it behave differently than when you change the altitude using the joystick knob on the SkyView display itself?

Dynon,

I upgraded from version 12.2, I think. Whatever the prior version before 13.0.3 was.
I generally do not use the joystick knob so I will try it this weekend when I fly next. I should also note it doesn't always do this. I will experiment with it and see how often I experience this.

Kurt:

There is some "acceleration" in the altitude knob logic. That is, if you turn it faster, you'll get more than a single 100 foot increment for each click. This lets you say get from 1000 ft to 9000 ft quickly and without having to go through 80 clicks of the knob. But it's always been that way, and I don't think we've tweaked the behavior there except to bug-fix some jitter issues that people were seeing a few versions ago. I also don't think that there were any changes here between 12.2 and 13.0.

So, if it continues to happen, the SV-KNOB-PANEL probably needs repair, and the correlation with the software upgrade may just be coincidence. Please contact our Technical Support group for a Return Material Authorization (RMA) - phone 425-402-0433 or email support at dynonavionics dot com.

Dynon,

I flew over 5 hours from Texas to Central Fl over the holiday and did experience the Altitude bug knob missing steps, backward steps, and jumping to far. I only see it on occasion and only on the SV-KNOB-PANEL. I could not duplicate on the LH knob. So I will need to send it back to you; however, I need my airplane till after Christmas. So unless you can send a loaner I will not return it till after New Years.
