Ok, I’m being picky here, but since you are doing an update 3.0 in January I thought we might get a small change in the software. Here is my request:
When I first turn on the system it defaults to the standard page (boot up information shows up first, but it boots quickly). What I would like is a status button on the bottom that would enable a quick status of the SkyView System without going into the setup mode. The following should be included in the status:
1. Each Screen in the SkyView network – Status (RED/Yellow/Green) Not online- Out of date FW – Ready
2. Each SkyView component as shown on the Network Configuration
3. Any serial components: Show connectivity to Transponder, External GPS, SL30, etc.
4. Data Base Information Similar to #2 above but to show the Obstacle, Terrain (?), and navigation database for each of the screens (on that 1 screen).
5. GPS information (location, # of Satellites, etc)
6. Flight Plan Loaded Information
The idea of the screen is to provide a 1 page check of the system, databases, communications, etc. prior to flight without having to enter setup mode or check each screen individually.
I started flying EFIS screens for my IFR training with the Garmin G1000 and I really liked their green check marks and single page screen for checking the system/databases/etc. I didn’t like that it required a number of button pushes to get there. ;D
Am I off base with these thoughts? Any additions or deletions?
