They will not conflict, but there is no great reason to have both. If you are buying a new transponder right now, you can save some future money by making sure you get ADS-B out compliance in your transponder and then just buy a much less expensive receive only UAT in the future.

So, back to my question - does it not make sense to include a UAT / ADS-B IN receiver function in your transponder, perhaps as an option?

I already have a GNS-480; I would consider upgrading from my D180 to SkyView (along with a new transponder - I could sell the old one in a jiffy) if I could also use it to display Weather and TFRs.

No.  Transponders and UAT receivers are very different pieces of equipment, operating on different frequencies, using different protocols, sometimes requiring different antennas, etc.  It makes much more sense for them to be separate components.

Lets put it this way - ideally one might want a box that's a transponder, XM receiver, UAT, FM radio, MP3 player, and espresso machine. But the reality is that each of these has development and cost tradeoffs. Our transponder is what it is in part because we've partnered with a company that has a module that is TSO'd and ready to integrate with SkyView, now. So realistically, no, it's not possible to have UAT-in integrated into the transponder.

I'm wiring a panel with a couple of SV's and a 430W now and am interested in the ARINC module as well. Any chance of getting a pinout on the DB-25 for this module?

Do you have a better idea of when the transponder and arinc modules will be available for purchase? I also had planned for a garmin gtx-327, but probably will wait for your transponder if it will be available soon.

Thanks
Andre

We expect to be shipping the transponder in October, about 8 weeks from now.

With regard to the pinout diagram for the ARINC module, the diagram you provided has two pins marked ARINC TX A(24 and 25), two pins marked ARINC TX B(12 and 13), and no Serial Port Tx. This seems to be incorrect/incomplete. Can you update me on this?

It's correct and complete. Like the HS34, the SkyView ARINC-429 module has 1 transmitter, and 2 receivers. There are a second set of TX pins so that you can send it to two devices without splitting wires. As for the serial port: Unfortunately, devices that send out GPS over ARINC-429 are missing altitude data (there is in fact no ARINC-429 altitude label). So, for those, we'll have you drop their serial output into the converter as well. It will look specifically for Aviation format input at 9600 baud - precisely what a GNS430 and similar outputs.
