Flight Plan Problem
I have a route of some kind that every time I try to make a flight plan. If I make a flight plan to an airport about 30 miles or  whatever miles instead of the 30 or so miles that it actually is it add another 6000 + miles to the flight plan. There is what looks like a route that ends or starts somewhere just west of the horn of Africa in the Atlantic ocean & doesn't have a name. I have tried everything I can to delete it but it always comes back. Any Ideas? Also I can't find the activate button in the flight plan mode, I'm sure I am doing something wrong. Help, Stan

Hi Stan - So first, what version of SkyView software are you on? There's no longer an ACTIVATE button in the flight plan FPL menu as of the latest software - it's now always says NAVIGATE, and will be highlighted when navigation is active, and not when it isn't (I think I'm remembering this right - I'm not in front of an SV display right now). So I'm wondering if you're not on the latest software version and whether or not you've run into a bug that we've already fixed (I'm having a vague memory of an issue that looks like this). When you press FPL to see the flight plan list, what do you see? Screenshots (buttons 2+7 simultaneously with a USB stick connected) or pictures of the screen would help. Do you see this when you go direct-to, or only when you're constructing a flight plan?

I just uploaded the latest software 7.1 I think when I put the way points in & hit navigate nothing happens. After messing around long enough I will finally get the flight plan up but it always adds the 6000 miles to the flight plan. I'm not sure how to get you the info with a USB. I need to get rid of the 6000 miles & be able to activate the flight plan. I will look at the latest version of your instructions & mabe get it figured out. I appreciate all the help. Thanks, Stan

Perhaps give our support team a call at 425-402-0433 next time you're in front of your system and let's see if we can't walk you through the issue. I'm wondering if you just have a waypoint somewhere very far away from your current location in your flight plan in there. Try going to MENU > MAP > FPL > FPL MENU > CLEAR FLIGHT PLAN, and then nudge the CRSR knob right twice. Then do a direct-to. Does that fix things?

Attn Dynon Official,
I have been able to get some screen shots of the extra 6000+ miles that is attached to all my flight plans & where the phantom leg go's to. It also is not clear the best way to activate my flight plans. Hope this will help figure out how to get rid of this leg. I've tried to delete it all the available ways but it always comes back. If it only had a name it probably wouldn't be hard to delete. I'm sure that I never panned over to that area to make a way point.
Thanks for your interest & I hope that there's an answer. Stan

Hi Stan - I'm not sure we've seen your pictures yet. Did you email them to us at support at dynonavionics dot com? Or did you send them another way?

The system thinks you are at location 0,0. It is not adding that point off Africa in the middle of your flight plan, it thinks you are originating from there. Note that there isn't a leg into and out of that point, just out.

I notice that your map shows a ? on top of the airplane, and shows --- for track, ground speed, and altitude. This means the GPS does not have a lock. What GPS are you using, and are you getting a good GPS lock? The system can't plan a flight accurately if it has no idea where you are!

You are probably right as the airplane is in my shop in which we fix Toyota forklifts tractors etc. I will look at this again when I get it to the airport or outside. Sorry for all the inconvenience. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks Stan
