no fuel fuel gauge indication

[smiley=embarassed.gif] Although we have followed the calibration procedure, checked the electrical line and the sensor, the Dynon D180 fuel gauge reads 0. Any idea of the step we have missed ?

Atar , I also have solid test readings but....
I too have a fuel level indicator problem .I have the EMS D120 installed and have SW resistive fuel sensors. I have emptied the tanks twice. During the calibration I get a 63 level reading despite addition of fuel. I have done this twice.
I followed the instructions then I completed the process and voila the level began to read on the guage although i got the warning that it was not accurate. It seems to read at the correct level not sure whats up but now need to redrain both tanks and see if it really does work despite the error
messages. Maybe the moderator could chime in here with some feedback.

RV848JP, if I understand correctly, the thing can start working almost correctly without any obvious reason ? We do need the help of a moderator as you suggested. I like understanding why it works and why it does not. I am back to the dipstick and clock era ! I was expecting a performance at least as good as steam gauge.

Did your fuel level readings on the screen change as you were adding fuel while calibrating?

What kind of fuel level sensors are you using?

Negative on reading changes and they are SW Vans resistive sensors.

That basically means we're not seeing a resistance change from the sensor. So either the sensors aren't actually moving, they're not connected, or perhaps the sensor type is set incorrectly (you want type 1 for the resistive sensors).

tried calibration again on Dynon reading 163 at start never changed up to 20 gallons.

Hello,
Mine is a Glasair, header tank, capacitive sensor (ie type 2). Now since I have changed the number of tanks displayed from 2 to 1, I have an info . BUT it reads full most of the time, flickering to almost empty sometimes . While calibrating by increments of 5 liters, the Dynon D180 says that it never sees the fuel added and at the end that the calibration is therefore unsuccessful. And at the end it displays a list of number that does not look stupid (roughly a linear increase of the voltage values I guess). :-? what is wrong ? We have checked the sensor, the lines and it was working with the steam gauge. Any idea of what is wrong (the application of the procedure ?). Should we wait a bit before press the YES button after having added the fuel ? did we miss a step in the procedure ? Thanks for your help

Thanks for the help but I installed 2 Vans analog guages 5 hours they work great wiring was all good on senders . Sometimes its best to go the path of least resistance.

Good luck I really Love the Dynons otherwise.....

atar - what kind of capcitive sensors are you using? Know that what we're ultimately looking for from these sorts of sensors is a variable DC voltage between 0-5V. Some brands output a frequency (pulse), this is not compatible. If you have the Princeton probes (the most common ones that our products work with), make sure you do its onboard calibration before doing ours.

Basically, it sounds like we're not seeing any response from the sensors at all.
