Hi

Am helping a customer set up a Skyview system.

2 x SV-D700, SV-EMS-220, SV-ADAHRS-200, SV-GPS-250 and SV-XPNDR-261.

He had done some initial setup and wanted me to check out the transponder.

When checked the system, one D700 was version 10.xxx and was talking to the AHRS, Knob panel and EMS, the other D700 was version 5.xxx and not talking to anything.

I recommended we update to latest version to start.

Upgraded the 5.xxx screen to 14.0.0.3486 and it upgraded the other nework units to V14. Then tried to upgrade the 10.xx screen, however it decided on power up to downgrade all the network units to 10.xx, then I was able to upgrade it to 14.xx and the network units followed again.

Now when I first got there, the GPS was showing position but now the system shows no GPS data and when I tried to configure the SV-TXPNDR-261 serial point it won't communicate and we are just getting a "transponder Fail" message.

I checked the wiring and the RS232 TX & RX lines from the transponder are connected to Serial Port ! on one of the screens.

But there is no communication.

Any suggestions?

Unless the transponder is hooked to the same serial port on both screens, it will not work.

You can verify this by turning off the screen that it is not connected to. It will work then. But when you turn on the other screen, it will work sometimes, and sometimes not.

Ok - so it needs to be connected to Both screens via the same serial port to work?

Did I read that right?

Also, the fact that the "transponder" label is in red may mean that multiple serial ports are set up to be a transponder. So just click through all of the serial ports and make sure that only serial 1 is configured to be a transponder.
