No sidetone when transmitting, sound like a robot on intercom

Finally got airborne a week ago and working my way through testing. One annoying bug I've run across relates to comms... I have the Dynon intercom and SV-COM-X25.

I can hear radio traffic fine.
On the ground my intercom is fine.
In the air, I sound like a robot to myself (though I suspect tbhis one may be a headset issue--I tried the headset in another airplane with the Dynon intercom and sounded robotic there, too)
When transmitting, I hear no sidetone--but I'm told I sound fine.

Any suggestions?

Try a different good headset in your plane & if same issue then it’s a ‘fault‘ with your system, ie wiring or other issue.

When you talk to you passenger on the intercom, do you have sidetone?
Do you only not have sidetone on transmit?

Correct, only when transmitting on Com.

I'm thinking the robot voice is probably bad noise filtering on the headset. I'm going to try both my other identical one and one borrowed from a coworker.

The "no sidetone when transmitting" is mainly what I'm wondering about. Everyone says they hear me, but it's unnerving.

Just to check, have you adjusted the sidetone on the X25 COM?
It might be set at zero.
Sidetone is a product of the radio during transmit

I'll have to check that! I also borrowed a headset from a coworker to run a comparison. We'll see tomorrow morning...

update: yep, the sidetone value was set to 5. I reset it to 50 and it's much better. Had no idea that was a setting...
Also coworker's headset made no difference (it was actually worse!) but I think adjusting the mic position a bit helped and honestly it's just noisy in there. Also tested the music input and it's passable (I guess I'm spoiled by my car).

On your hollow robotic receive audio, are you using a stereo or mono headset?
Sometimes a mono headset in stereo jacks will cause some weirdness.
