No Transponder on Skyview

I cannot get the transponder to show up on the Skyview.  When I first connected, there was an indication on the top screen, showing 1200 and something else.  In configuring other elements at one time there was something loading to the transponder, it got to 19% and seemed to lock up, despite the warnings, I rebooted to get out of the lockup.  I have tried everything in the install manual, everything seems correct, but no display of transponder on the Skyview display.  What am I missing?

If you truly got to 19% on the transponder and it locked up, your transponder is no longer functional and will need to be repaired here. Contact us on the phone or via email to get it repaired.

You have to manually tell the system to load the transponder, it never happens automatically, so unless you did that, you probably have a different issue such as wiring or serial port configuration. Also, the transponder is not powered by SkyView so it needs to have power to show up.

Is there not some way I can try again to tell it to load the transponder? Where is that step, maybe I missed it.

Unfortunately, as the transponder is a TSO'd device, once it has bad or incomplete code on it, it stops operating, including accepting updates. It's not the way we like Dynon products to work, but it was not something we could work around affordably. Most other Dynon devices are recoverable.

Updating the transponder is accomplished in the transponder setup menu under the transponder status line. You cannot access the update process unless the system sees a working transponder and sees that its version is older than the latest, so you will not have an option here.

You are correct, I am not allowed to access the status line.
Now for second question, my SL40 does not show up on the skyview either. Must that be sent back for you to adjust as well?

The SL-40 is not a Dynon product so if it needs any updates, it needs to go back to Garmin, not us. There is some data that the software version in the SL-40 does matter, but Garmin does not publish a software change log for their products so it's hard for us to know what version is needed.

Are you getting a red X for the SL-40 or no display at all? Do you have the serial port configured properly, and the RX and TX lines connected? Does the TUNE button work even if you have a red X?

Sorry, confused about the radio, it fires up, displays freqs and tunes normally.
Here is a screen shot, I THINK that the long red X on the right is radio freq space, not labeled.  I have visually traced the wires for the SL40, but we put them into a Vans Aircraft Box which then feeds them to the Skyview.  I have selected serial port 4 for the radio. There have been instances of those wires missing, will check them out more carefully.
I think the Transponder problem was my own making, I got confused with all the Dynon numbers, and tried to load a 262 rather than th e 261 that is physically installed.  Probably why it locked up.
Do you see anything else alarming on this shot?

I sent my transponder in to Dynon to fix my screwup, tried to connect it as a 262 instead of a 261, and screwed it up. Dynon fixed it and sent it back no charge! They even put the sticker on it for me, you gotta love those guys!
