No voice alerts

Hi All;

The D-180 and the HS-34 are now powered (version 4.0.0). Everything has checked out OK so far except that there are only partial audible alarms...

This is what I've checked so far:
1) I have checked the DSAB network status. All looks OK, with the D-180 and HS-34 in place.
2) I can hear the AOA tone by testing via the EFIS>SETUP>AOAALM
3) No sound is generated via the EMS>SETUP>GLOBAL>ALAMR CONFIG>TEST ALARM AUDIO menu
4) I cannot find the VOICE ALERT menu referenced on page 8-20...

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

C. Ortiz

Where do you have the audio connected to in your Dynon system. With your configuration, you should have the audio wire connected to the HS34's audio output, but not to any of the outputs on the FlightDEK-D180.

I suspect you have the audio out connected to the FlightDEK-D180 25 pin connector.

No, the only connection to the audio is through pin 25 of the HS-34.

It's under EFIS>SETUP>HSI>VOICE ALERT. What are the settings in there? Does the test function in that menu work?

I'll be the dummy here and suggest that you check you didn't do what I did - wire the pin to the wrong D25 connector.

When they say "Male," they are referring to the connector on the HS34 not the connector you attach the wire to.

I think there was also an HS34 setup option to disable voice alerts - that might explain hearing the AoA alert tone but no voice.

Also, note that if you have the EMS set to output voices (not tones) under the HSI setup under EFIS>SETUP>HSI>VOICE ALERT, then the EMS test button under the EMS setup won't produce a tone. The actual EMS voice alerts will still be produced, however.

Thanks, All. The problem was not with the Dynon installation, but with the connection of all audio outputs (radio/NAV/Dynon) to the intercom system (guessing impedance mismatch). Switched the radio outputs to "high" and all is well; BTW, I've named her "Roxane" :)

Thanks again.
