I have an intermittent trim fail on my RV-12. Sometimes works OK then nose up trim ceases to function after a few minutes of flight. Other times the nose up trim will not function at power up. Once failed it will not recover trim up function. I have checked connections ro the trim servo in the tail, and confirmed that the servo runs in both directions powered by a 9v battery. Configuration is Skyview Classic Touch, with AP Panels and wiring all obtained from Van’s. About 90 hours of fantastic flight. Now grounded. Help please!

BTW - I had a similar issue & rigged up an (on)-OFF-(on) biased switch (vans Flap switch ) wired the same way for direct trim motor ops instead. I used a 15 pin dsub connector into the AP Panel harness & just used the same power/ground/trim motor wiring. This will give you manual trim control & you will not be ‘grounded’ .
Ps- that method was used on the elevator trim - made a temporary plate to mount the switch & also cover the original hole.

Thanks Jake, I’ll give them a call and try to resolve. If no luck then your alternate wiring sounds like a good backup plan. BTW, you said you had a similar issue. What symptoms or behaviors prompted your re-design?

Was this issue resolved? I believe I have the same problem with my install, this is a new installation and not yet flying but all in and wired. Initially the trim up and down via a stick mounted switch to a Ray Allen servo worked fine then began to intermittently lose the trim up and now rarely works at all. Trim down is perfect. I have extensively checked all connections etc and can't find anything wrong. The serial number my SV AP Panel is 003449. Software version is 15.3.4.4867 and shows status ready. In the setup Auto Trim Motor Test trim works in both directions as expected. Any ideas appreciated thanks.

Russell - whether the Op's issue was resolved or not will not resolve your situation, the best people to talk to is Dynon Support in this case. You have done everything reasonably to find the cause of the problem.

Apologies for not posting the resolution sooner. After talking with Dynon, they said mine was an early version of the AP Button Panel which had given some users problems after the recent software update. I received a new AP Button Panel and sent my original back to Dynon. New one worked perfectly and solved my TRIM problem. Another great experience with Dynon support!
