I live in Alasak and recently purchased a 10A. I see the operation specs indicate -22 to +122F. I have had radios and cell phone displays go bad in cold temps. Is there any concern with this unit if it sits outside in temps lower than -22F?

We've had lots of units in places like Minnesota and never heard of any problems. We test them in storage here to -40F (-40C) and haven't seen any damage either.

As for actual operation, when it's really cold out they will be dim when they turn on as screen warms up, and if it is too cold the system will warn you until it warms up. Turn it on as you pre-flight and you should be fine.

Always a good idea to pre-heat your cockpit with the heat tube under the instrument panel, even with steam guages. What are you flying?

I'm flying a C-170A. It is in a hangar but was interested in the response should I be out somewhere in the winter and the temp drops. Didn't want the screen to break like a radio I had in the past.
