I would appreciate any suggestions for this panel for our Rans S-20. It will have the Dynon Skyview 10", Dynon Com, Intercom, Transponder, ADSB and Autopilot. The engine is the UL350iS.
Thanks

My thoughts after accidentally killing the avionics master in flight the other day:

Don't put your master, ignition, or avionics switches (or really, any flight-critical, really-don't-want-to-turn-them-off-accidentally switches) right under the soft keys or joysticks on the Skyview. In turbulence you may slip or miss, and hit a switch that you don't intend to.

Or, at least put some kind of ledge or guard above said switches to prevent that.

I agree with Bill. Is your screen centered on you sitting in the left seat? It looks like it might be a little towards the center of the plane. Center it on you. You have enough room, put an Ipad on the right side, later maybe the second screen.

Make a test panel out of plexiglass or 1/4" plywood. Make or use full size cut-outs of the instruments, switches, displays, etc then place them on the test panel. Finally sit in the airplane with the test panel in place and move the cut outs around until you get them where you feel the best. Move around in the seat and take into account ease of use and possible problems while in turbulence.

Your final layout will be slightly different from anybody else.

I don't quite see why you need all those "master" switches...you have a Master power switch, a "Main" power switch, an Avionics master, a switch for every avionics box, two nav light switchs and two landing light switches, etc.

If you're using Skyview, you don't even need an avionics master, let alone all those others for each radio, XPDR, A/P, etc., as they're all controlled through SV.

I took my Avionics switch out but put it back. It was annoying to have to shut down all the avionics individually when I just wanted to turn on the master to check some thing like the fuel level, or do an update, etc.

You may want an ignition switch. I'm not sure what UL Power recommends, but my ignition switch turns on the ECU, injectors, ignition, fuel pump and makes the start button active. It takes Skyview a few moments to boot up and me plenty of time to prepare for start and I don't like the fuel pump spinning while I wait. It also goes back to turning on the master to do something like input a flight plan or show off your Skyview. Do you want all that other stuff running?

Good idea from gtae07 to guard the critical switches. I do. :)

This will save you some space. The RV12 is like this:
The landing light can be a 3 position switch: Centered is OFF, Push in the top, it is ON, Push in the bottom, it is PULSE.

The Nav lights are similar. Centered is OFF. Top is NAV only. Bottom is NAV+STROBE. The RV12 switches have a little LED in them for when "not OFF."
