First, the unit you're transferring settings from and to must be on the same software version. Assuming that, you can then create a settings file backup using the Dynon Support program that you can get from http://downloads.dynonavionics.com. Note that you first need to choose the "configure program options" feature, then press go, and then choose the "enable special oem function" checkbox. Then you will be able to choose the "OEM: create settings backup" option. You want to create a regular settings backup.

I think you've reminded me of a bug in the latest version of the support program that I didn't remember that we had. In short, I don't think it will be possible to transport your setting with the version of the support program that you have. There are two things you can try:

1) We've semi-publicly released a "release candidate" of a version 5.6 that fixes a different issue: see this thread for the download link to that. You can try using that support program, without first updating your system, to both create a settings export and import it into the new unit.
2) If that doesn't work, you can try using the support program to actually upgrade both of the D100s, and then repeat the above.

I'll have our support team try the above here too, so if you're OK to hold out, we can let you know whether either of these options will work before updating your systems.

Can you email a complete firmware backup (choose options "create firmware backup", then zip the resulting file before emailing it to us) from your unit and email it to support at dynonavionics dot com with a link to this thread?

Hi dilamipo,
I've got the same error message:

file EFIS-D100_settings.efs is invalid or corrupt!
Reason:This OEM settings backup is intended for version 0.0.0.0, but your instrument needs version 5.5.0.249

Did you manage to fix it?

From what it says above it sounds like you need to update the software to a newer version (currently 5.6.1) first.

Do you still have both D100s? If so, the ideal thing to try would be to upgrade both units to 5.6.1, and using the 5.6.1 support program, grab a settings backup, and then try. There was definitely an odd bug at some point that could cause what you're seeing where it reports the version number as zeroes. I think - but am not certain - that it's fixed in the latest support program
