Is there a pilots operations manual to explain screen symbols?

Only have install manual and pilots operating guide which ignores traffic info.

That is 326 pages for me to run off for an updated installaion manual, quite a load for a home computer printer. Do you offer them for sale as well?
Even the old ones when you print a newer one would be of help to us.

What I'd really like to have is a Quick Reference Guide...there's no way I'm hauling around all 300+ pages of the User's Manual, and most of it isn't needed because the menus are pretty intuitive, but it would be nice to have either a QuickRef card or small spiral-bound set of QR pages.

So while we'd love a quick reference guide too, what goes in there? Creating a flight plan? Turning weather on and off? What error messages mean? What different transponder modes are? It's really hard to figure out where the line is, and everything in the manual is there because someone, at some point, needed to know that. Before long, the "quick reference" is the user guide again.

As you say, we do our best to make the system intuitive, so when you need the manual it's because you need some detail, and a quick reference guide doesn't do that.

We're always open to suggestions so feel free to give us some pointers or an example or two of what you think might work.

Plus, it's only 165 pages, not 300 ;)

Good questions. I'd start with a graphical chart of displays, menus, submenus, and such.

Maybe the same for autopilot modes and transitions.

Symbology probably doesn't need to be in there, it's pretty obvious.

Have to think about this...agreed you want it simple, easy-to-use, and clear, and to cover a reasonable, but not exhaustive set, of operations.

An example starting point, but one that I think is WAY too detailed in some respects, is the (sorry) Garmin 430W QR guide (I point to this only because that's what I have). It's too verbose, and has too many things that you don't really need in a QR guide, but it's a start. For example, you don't need a whole page to diagram the buttons and knobs...we know how those work and what they are. You don't need a chart of symbols (except for perhaps traffic alert symbols). And so forth.

But it is small, just a few pages of spiral-bound stuff, and easy to carry in the cockpit. It's got too much detail in some areas, not enough in others, but...

There are probably others out there, too.
