pink map

I loaded 11 and all the new databases and went flying and found most of my map has a pink hue. The area I was flying in, Calif and western Nevada had a normal map, but the rest of the country was barely legible with the pink overlay. Also the sectional, and IFR chart overlays were missing for the area that had the pink.
Anyone else seen this?

Do you have ADS-B weather turned on? This sounds like the color we give to areas that do not have any nexrad data.

Yes the ADS-B WX is on and working. The pink is the entire US, with the exception of most of CA and a small western slice of NV and UT. I am going out to the airport today and will try turning off the WX and see if that changes anything. I also have found that the sectional and IFR charts were not properly selected on my last update, so that explains that issue. It's not connected to the pink hue.

I went out and fired it up again today, and now the whole country is pink! The ADS-B box say's everything is online. If I go into the setup menu and turn off the Nexrad, the pink goes completely away. Now my problem is that it's thunderstorm season and I have no Nexrad. This problem didn't exist prior to upgrading to V11. Could the added ADS=B features of the upgrade be causing this problem. If so, could turning off the features allow me to have Nexrad?
The flights were this showed up we each over two hours long, so there was plenty of time for the WX map to load. Is there a way to limit the area that Nexrad downloads? If the bandwith is insufficient to show the whole country, can I just show my local area?
Here is a screenshot.

We've got an email dialog going with you now so we'll continue the troubleshooting there. But to those following along:

The limitation on receiving the weather picture is entirely dependent on the order and time that it takes the ground stations to beam it up. Necessarily, this is done as a continuous stream that more or less repeats with both the graphical (nexrad) and textual (metars/tafs/etc) updates (this is an oversimplification). So, depending on what the system was sending the moment before you powered up and gained reception, the time it takes to get various bits of data can differ from flight to flight. The system IS set up to give you the most detail about the area that you're closest to. But know that a full refresh of all of the TIS-B weather data can take I believe up to 15 minutes to get to you in normal operation when you have continuous reception.

Technically, the purple means that the SkyView has not received NEXRAD data for that area yet, for whatever reason -- be it 1) the receiver is offline, 2) towers are out of range, 3) data just hasn't been beamed up yet, OR that the data for that sector has simply expired (this is getting a bit nitty gritty). Normally this is just because you're waiting for the data in that area of the country.

On my return from Wendover today over Rocky Mountains East of SLC this is the display when I had ADSB weather selected.  I am curious as to what the purple square is on the display is and why it was there.  It was present at all ranges  See Attachment

I now know what the area is so disregard. It's either expired or not received. It's really annoying.
