I have an RV-8 almost finished, with D-180, HS-34, SL-30, GTX327 and Garmin 696.

Getting ready to power up for the first time. Is there anything special I should do first? During the initial calibrations do I have to do all the first time or can I do some and then shut it down and come back another day?

Also to update the firmware, I have a MACBook. Can I use that or will it not work with a MAC?

There's no requirement to do configurational things the first time you power things up. Turn things on, have a look around, but do make sure you use the manual at some point to make sure you're setting everything up comprehensively.

Firmware updates can't be done from MacOS, but if you're running bootcamp and are also running Windows, that should work.

finally worked up my nerve and turned it on. Nothing fried and the screen came right up. Sat and played with it a while and put the inclination data in the first day. Hopefully I did that right.

I probably asked this question earlier but can't find the answer. If I am updating my D180 & HS34 (no autopilot) using a Macbook running bootcamp and Windows 98 will that work or do I need a newer version of Windows?
