Pre Armed Modes on Powerup?

I seem to always have HDG and ALT modes armed on power up of the AP74. Is there a way to prevent this so the system powers up with no modes armed?

The reason I ask is that I like to have the bugs set to sync on arm and since the modes are armed on power up, I have to disarm them and rearm them when I am ready to use em. This is an unnecessary step....

Not currently, though we'll take another look at that behavior.

Same thoughts with D180 without AP74 unit
Can this be made to arm as NAV instead of HDG
Surely majority of people fly on GPS NAV source

I would think HDG mode is appropriate, you should BUG the runway heading or the initial heading if need be anyway, the NAV mode is selected once you are airborne.

Anyway...just my thought on the matter.

In flight you should also keep the heading bug set......just in case you need it. ;)

When else would you use AP?
Agreed on keeping HDG bug setting in flight - especially when "Nav SRC lost" happens

I dont even think about AP until up and well on my way, then changing from HDG to Nav is just extra keystrokes. otherwise could just arm via disconnect sw?
Maybe if it just remembered what it was in last time would suit everyone.
