Problem with new terrain database

I loaded the new 11.0 software, the recent PocketFMS aviation and obstacle databases, The new sensor definitions and both low resolution terrain databases. I left the reg-02-north-america-2014-08-05.dup database to the last. I didn't watch the first time it loaded but after about two hours it was still at 99% so I rebooted. I loaded it again. It took 1:50 hours (about 1%/minute) to reach 99% and then sat at the following screen for another 30+ minutes. I gave up and rebooted. My battery was going dead by then. The install routine checked the database before it loaded and didn't report a corrupt file. I was using the Dynon supplied 4GB USb drive. Any suggestions? I'd use the South Pacific one as it loads faster but there are too many islands for this flatlander.

Mariel;
The time is what I had as well but it went from 99% to done in 1 minute or so.
I would try re downloading the file and try again. I don't envy the time you spent on this, I shined the plane and did half an annual in the time I needed to wait to complete 2 displays.

I had the same problem; followed the same procedure as you, it took so long to load that I left for a couple of hours when it was at 55%. When I came back it was at 99%, I waited and watched it for another 15 minutes and nothing happened. So I rebooted, no hi res database listed. Main battery power was too low and it was too late in the day to try again. Left the main battery on the charger and will try again tomorrow.

Tried again today with new file and new USB stick - no joy. :-/

It's pretty flat here so I'll just fly around with the low resolution terrain until Dynon figures this one out.

I still question if the new high resolution terrain is really worth the effort. It must be but if support could elaborate on the improvements in the terrain it may help how determined one needs to be to get it "upgraded"
Sorry to hear it didn't work for you marien!

I tried again, and it froze again at 99% completion.
On a hunch, I deleted all the databases and started with the hi res terrain first. Success! Then loaded the other base map and terrain databases without issue. Then loaded the PFMS obstacle database, no problem.
When I got to reloading the PFMS aviation database, I got a "database write error", multiple attempts. So I deleted the obstacle database, reloaded the aviation database and Success! Then attempted the obstacle database again and got the write error again. I can live without the obstacles for now.

Sure sounds to me that it might be a flash disk partition full problem...

For another point of reference - I have now uploaded the new vers11 & databases onto 2 dual Skyview systems with the first 2 SV's being powered up individually ie 1 was up with the other off however today I powered both on in another aircraft & had some issues. So I turned 1 off & loaded the other screen 1st then did the same for screen #2, then did a network config - everything now works ok.

That may be a possibility. The PocketFMS database is 3x the size of the FAA database. I'm going to try what you did but leave the very low resolution to the last. It's about the same size as the obstacle database.

bobl: That does sound like a storage issue, but it shouldn't be happening. I'll ask our engineering team what information might be useful here. Which terrain db were you loading, by the way?

It is a memory problem, but only with the PocketFMS database. I deleted my very low resolution terrain and the high resolution loaded. There is no room for all the databases. The very low is 3982 KBytes.

I also have two skyviews and loaded the version 11 package on both displays first with no problems, then started the reg 2 high res load. All was suscessful on one of the displays, but as the second display neared completion, power must have been getting low so a "powering down in ____ seconds" message appeared. From that point on, that display has not recognized when I install a USB drive. Therefore I cannot load new files on that display. Otherwise, it appears to be functioning well.

Dynon,
My situation was the same as mmarien's - loading the reg-02 hires terrain, and pocket Fms aviation and obstacle databases.
Without the pfms obstacle db, the load files screen shows 4072 kbytes free. The obstacle db is 3088 kbytes, but can't be loaded. If I do like mmarien's, and delete the very-low-res terrain, I get 8164 kbytes free before installing obstacles and 322 kbytes free after, saying the 3088 kb obstacle file expanded on install to require 7842 kb.

So yes, I think it's pretty clear we have a disk partition full problem.

We've updated the terrain database downloads page for those of you that were having issues loading the new high resolution terrain along with some of the other databases. This particularly affected PocketFMS customers, as those are a bit bigger than other aviation/obstacle databases since they're a single worldwide region. In particular, the Canada-Alaska, North America, Northern Asia, and North Pacific regions have been trimmed slightly. All other regions remain unchanged.
