I know that Dynon does not want to develop a GPS Map display because it's a lot of effort just to replicate what GPS manufacturers are expert at.
That's too bad, though because I think competitors will make advances on this front, and put Dynon at a disadvantage. Currently, I think the best match for a Dynon EFIS is the AVMAP EKP-IV, because it's large and legible. The Garmin GPSMap products are just too small and dim whereas Dynon's displays are great.
Looking at the Avmap products, they have an automotive product that takes an external video input to allow for back-up cameras, etc. but their aviation version of the same product does not allow this. It strikes me that this would make a great taxi-aid camera systems for tail draggers.
I have no hope that Avmap will listen to the experimental aviation community, but I know that Dynon does... so if it's feasible in a future product, an external video input would be very useful for taxi-assist (or in flight video games). Logically, this function works best with a GPS map display, hence my first paragraph.
Other things that I'd like from Dynon someday: automatic testing of internal battery capacity, easier access to the battery, self-contained voice alerts, flap speed alarm (earlier post) and Vne alarm. Finally, I would like a 360 degree heading tape (rose) on the EFIS display.
I'm currently flying with a D10A, but am planning a panel replacement within 2 years.
