Question re: Navigation Voice Alert

I have selected navigation voice alerts.  I have gotten the alerts on some flights.  Recently, I realized that I have not been getting alerts while using flight plans defined on my Garmin 430.  On the SkyView system I have selected the Garmin flight plan and that plan is displayed on the map.

What might be the cause for not getting the "Approaching Waypont" voice alert?

Although when you are flying a flight plan that resides IN the 430, SkyView is only displaying and flying the flight plan - but it's not the source of it. And although it's able to show all of the legs and waypoints, behind the scenes it's sort of just echoing what the 430 is outputting. So it's not processing and generating the flight plan in quite the same way as it does when SkyView itself is generating the guidance. Because of this, there are some small differences in behavior, such as the audio alerts not being generated.

Put another way, the flight plan data is only "passing through" SkyView - for display on the map, HSI, and to drive the Autopilot.

There also may have been a more underlying motivation to not provide separate annuncaitions for external navigators that may have their own, but I'd need to check on that.
