Can any useful information be derived from the GTN 650 R232 to the Skyview through a serial connection?

RS-232 from the GTN can drive the HSI for enroute GPS operations and the AP can fly this data. No approach information nor VOR/ILS data comes over RS-232. It can also be used as a backup position source if your GPS-250 ever fails.

Do you get that same capability/information, plus VOR/ILS, from the ARINC 429 connection? If you have the ARINC box and R232 should both be connected to Skyview?

If you have the ARINC module, you get all VOR/LOC/GS data, as well as full GPS approach data, including the full flight plan shown on the SkyView map page. The HSI correctly scales for approaches and shows a GS or GP needle.

With the ARINC module, no connection is made between the GNS and the SkyView screen directly, all connections go to the AIRNC module.

SO if you have a fully functioning ARINC module, is it necessary to do a RS232 connection with Skyview to get the fully approved GPS data to the ADSB for compliance?

In this case, a wire from the GPS needs to go directly to the Transponder, not to the SkyView screen.
